Farfetch.com is a UK based digital boutique that offers clothes from some of the most luxurious and high quality designers around the world. Farfetch.com has recently launched a new ‘Style Hub’ in order to give their viewers even more access to style and the curation of their looks. I have decided to take part in their new project, ‘The Tie Edit’ and curate a few outfits of my own; using of course a single tie as the inspiration for all of my looks!
The tie that I’ve chosen for this project is the Dolce & Gabbana classic red silk tie. This might seem like a boring choice to some but I’ll explain my reasoning. Ties are a staple piece of most professional men’s outfits. They are easy to use, versatile and if done correctly – eye catching. This tie does just that.
The D&G red silk is classic and
versatile. The red is simple yet eye catching; the eye of the beholder satisfied by the sheen and smoothness of the silk. Red is also a power color, a choice perfect for any man at an event or at work. It is confidence incarnate.
My first curated outfit is for work. It involves the D&G red silk tie, the Givenchy wide leg trousers, Church’s black classic oxford shoes and the D&G classic white shirt. This is a classic and simple outfit that any guy can do at the office and with a simple jacket can also be used for a lunch meeting. Now, most people would choose a straight leg trouser instead of a wide leg trouser but I feel like the wide leg is more in fashion.
The 70’s has made its way back onto the fashion scene and the wide leg trousers are definitely an ‘in’ thing right now. The classic oxford is a simple yet on trend choice. It is appealing to the eye and the oxford never goes out of style. It is also simple enough to be versatile for both work, lunch and a formal event.
My second outfit for Farfetch.com is a little more versatile; think event or cocktail hour. The D&G red silk tie, the D&G black classic shirt, Church’s black classic oxford shoes and the black and grey Kenzo paneled tailored trousers. These trousers give a little bit of fun to a men’s outfit that might usually be missing. They’re simple yet interesting and they don’t take away from the magnificent color of the tie.
People will find you stylish and interesting but will appreciate how well tailored your look appears. Fall and winter are coming too so feel free to pair this look with the Etro geometric print coat for an added level of edge, or the D&G black military style coat to be fully on trend!
My final look for Farfetch.com is of course for a formal setting. Ties are a staple of any suited look and a dinner or formal occasion are where the suit shines. For my final formal look, I went with the D&G red silk tie, Church’s black classic oxford shoe, D&G classic white shirt and the Saint Laurent black two-piece dinner suit. Saint Laurent is a beautiful brand that creates stunning men’s clothing. The suit is perfectly crafted for a man’s body, pleasing lines and perfect stitching details; the quintessential men’s dinner suit.
The lines on the jacket and the lapels will lead the eye straight to the beauty of the red silk tie from D&G and the classic look being taken on by the shirt and shoes will just add to the wearers sophistication. If you’re looking for a little jewelry to go with your dinner/event outfit I have two recommendations. To continue with the classic look, I would recommend the Bulgari ‘Diagono’ analog watch. Or, if you’re feeling a little edgy that night try sharpening your look with the Vivienne Westwood ‘Armour’ ring. Either way you’ll be the best dressed man in the room!
